herbal teas vs glycerites: what’s the difference and which should you use?

the big debate, herbal teas or glycerites... which is better for your everyday rituals? while they are both incredible products, there could be one that is more beneficial to your lifestyle and one that serves the purpose in a simpler way.

which is better for your daily routine?

do you tend to frolic through your mornings or rush out the door?

are you a slow drinker or a fast drinker?

all of these will determine if herbal teas are better for you or if a glycerite is the way to go. let’s deep dive into the difference.

what is an herbal tea?

herbal tea is made by steeping a selection of herbs in water, either hot or cold. during this process, the water extracts the naturally occurring compounds within the various herbs. this method has been used for centuries and is often the most enjoyable. it also allows you to make the tea to your exact liking and gives you the ability to mix it up sometimes. you can drink it hot, cold, with honey, with milk, the possibilities are endless. incorporating herbal teas into your lifestyle reminds you to slow down at times and enjoy the process. this gives you dedicated time in your busy day to sit back and relax while reaping the benefits the earth provides.

what is a glycerite?

a glycerite is a non-alcoholic tincture. in order to make a glycerite, the herbs are soaked in distilled water and organic vegetable glycerin over a six to eight week period. during this time frame, the benefits of the herbs are extracted into the liquid. after the allotted time, the herbs are strained out, and i preserve the liquid to bottle up.

the result is a naturally sweet, alcohol-free herbal extract that is ideal to toss into any beverage or take directly by mouth.

being that the benefits are already extracted, glycerites are convenient when you’re short on time or don’t feel like brewing any tea. these are the perfect travel companion as well!

these are also useful to those who are sober but want a tincture-like herbal product readily available.

now the debate is which one is better?

there’s no cookie-cutter answer to that.

each one holds its own pros and cons, and it heavily relies on the intention of the product and the lifestyle you live. if you enjoy slowing down and having a daily ritual, herbal tea may be your thing. if you are casually always on the go, a glycerite would be more up your alley.

i personally love keeping both on hand. that way i can choose what fits best for the day i’m having! you can never have too many herbal wellness products, in my opinion, but i may be biased.

can you use both?

hell yeah!

there is no rule book saying you cannot take both. i’ve done it multiple times before. i’ve even added various glycerites to my teas when i need them. it’s all about what works for your lifestyle. this would answer the question of which one i reach for. i keep my herbal teas at home and keep glycerites on me in the car or in my purse.

the best choice for you is the one you’ll actually utilize.

whether that’s making a mug of tea or taking a quick dropper of a glycerite while running out the door, whatever works for you is genuinely what is best.

holistic wellness should work with your lifestyle, feel approachable, and not complicated.
